bio
Judith Jockel was born in Frankfurt, Germany and is currently based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
She received her BA in Photography at the Royal College of Art in The Hague. Since then Judith has been working as an editorial photographer for national and international acclaimed newspapers and magazines such as The Guardian, Trouw, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and De Volkskrant.
“My portraits balance between fiction and reality: the ingredients and locations are real: a house, a room, a garden, an office, but while photographing I am looking for a strange or magical side of ones own world. They might pretend to tell the full story of the person, but in the end they remain the result of a brief encounter of two individuals. In that particular moment I try to hold on to a feeling of truth; even if it's just a glimpse of what might lie beneath a surface.”
