Judith Jockel was born in Frankfurt / Main, Germany
and is currently based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
My portraits balance between fiction and reality: the ingredients and locations are real: a house, a room, a garden, an office, but while photographing I am looking for a strange or magical side of ones own world. They might pretend to tell the full story of the person, but in the end they remain the result of a brief encounter of two individuals. In that particular moment I try to hold on to a feeling of truth; even if it's just a glimpse of what might lie beneath a surface.
